Quite a lot actually.
Firstly, entrants get to have their work shown here on the Maps website, with full credits and contact details. The Maps website will be promoted by Mute over the coming months. The site offers everyone who enters (subject to terms and conditions) free online gallery space as a free promotional area for everyone who takes part.
Secondly, when the invitation closes in December, a jury of experts* including James Chapman from Maps, will choose a selection of Best in Show entries. These "winners" will be exhibited at Art Vinyl Gallery in a special 2-week You Can Create exhibition. The London show will be followed by a show in Manchester (dates to be confirmed.) The London show will be launched with a Private View to which all Best in Show winners will be invited. The exhibition will be extensively promoted to the media and music industries, including art directors, bands, managers and labels. It is anticipated that the show will feature 30 to 40 pieces of work. Successful entrants will be asked to supply a hi-res digital file to be printed, framed and hung. Each exhibit will be accompanied by a card listing the artist's name and contact details.
Thirdly, a further 10 entrants who are judged to be the Best of the Best, will have their work included in a special, limited-edition re-release of the We Can Create album. This "package"** will be released in January 2008. Each of the 10 contributors will receive 5 copies of the album signed by James Chapman. Each contributor will be fully credited and full contact details will be printed.
* The judging panel will comprise
- Ben Brown (Maps creative director, Citizen)
- Patrick Burgoyne (Creative Review)
- James Chapman (Maps)
- Ian Forsyth (Visual artist, Iainandjane.com)
- Daniel Miller (Mute)
- Adrian Shaughnessy (Varoom)
- Paul A. Taylor (Mute)
** Format yet to be finalised

The You Can Create exhibition at Art Vinyl will run from 18th-30th January 2008. Private View will be held on the evening of 17th January 2008.
The You Can Create exhibition will then travel to Manchester, where it will run for a further 2 weeks, dates and venue to be confirmed.

Listen to audio clips from Maps We Can Create album, or browse through the photographs, videos and artwork on the Maps website. If you are inspired by any aspect of Maps, a lyric, a song title, a band picture, even a gig you've been to you are invited to create an image and post it here on the You Can Create gallery.
All images must be square format, and must enlarge to a final size of 12x12CM (metric equivalent).
All images must be formatted for upload to 400x400 pixels at 72dpi.
Your image can be made in any medium. It can be a drawing, a vector file, a painting, a sculpture, a manipulated photo, a treated video still, an installation or a typographic concoction. It can be anything you like; the only restrictions are no photographs* and no moving image clips
The only other thing to remember is that your final image must be in a digital format, and in a file size that can uploaded to the website. Full instructions are given.
There's no limit to the number of images that you can submit. You can submit as many as you like, as long as they are inspired by Maps.
One last point - images don't have to relate to the existing Maps imagery. This is about finding new ways of depicting Maps.
* Your image can be based on a photograph, but it must not be a straight photograph, it has to be treated or manipulated in some way.
